Want a Clean and Healthy Holiday?

This holiday season, brighten your days by keeping a clean and healthy home. The holidays can be hectic and stressful, but with proper planning, you can enjoy the season. Avoid stress cleaning. Start early. Whether you are hiring a professional house cleaner or doing your cleaning, decide early. Hiring a professional house cleaning company can help you save time. If you are doing the cleaning, give yourself plenty of time. Here are tips to help you achieve a clean and healthy holiday.

First, create a holiday cleaning checklist. Having a list will help you get organized and intentional with your time. Prioritize the traffic-heavy areas, like the kitchen and the bathrooms. Walk through the checklist. Deep cleaning will take time and energy; use your time wisely and clean each room one at a time. Pay attention to door handles, light switches, and frequently touched surfaces. Clean and disinfect thoroughly.

Kitchen, clean out the fridge. Discard unwanted food and inspect the condiments. You want to avoid long-expired sauces. Check and wash the dish towels and potholders. Food contamination spreads rapidly when using the same dirty dish towels repeatedly. Clean and de-clutter the countertop. Remove and discard anything that is no longer serving your needs. Disinfect the surface.

After deep cleaning the bathrooms, place hand soap, and extra toilet paper in the guest bathroom. Check the towels, wash them, and replace them as needed. Place disposable disinfectant wipes in each bathroom for easy touch-up cleaning using the wipes. Disinfect the door handles and light switches.

Entryway, place area rugs at all doors. This will help reduce the dirt from getting tracked inside. For organization, place a decorative basket that can serve as a holder for hats and gloves. Empty the hallway closet to make room for the guest’s winter coat.

Bedrooms, wash and replace the linen before the holiday rush. Dust, vacuum and disinfect the door handles. Remove the clutter.

After thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting your home, do a walkthrough. Make a mental list of the things or areas you may have to do a quick touch-up before the guest or the holidays arrive.

For quick touch-ups. Have supplies and tools ready and in easy access, like a handheld vacuum, Swiffer floor cleaner, multi-purpose cleaner, microfiber cleaning cloth, disposable disinfecting wipes, and plenty of trash bags.

A clean and healthy home is an excellent way to celebrate the holidays. By giving yourself plenty of time to prepare, you will save time and avoid the stress of the holiday season. Happy Holidays!
