Time for Spring Clean again. The urge to do a thorough cleaning. For cleaners like me, we call Spring Clean, detailed deep cleaning. This is the cleaning where you spend extra time digging through the crevices, cleaning every nook and cranny.

The type of cleaning where you also take your time to de-clutter. To get rid of the things that no longer make you happy. In short, time to clean and let go. But before you start cleaning or throwing things away, first, you must condition yourself to the daunting task.

Like, cleaning your mind first. Make sure you are ready to throw away the things that collect dust and do not serve a purpose. These are the sentimental things that we kept just because. Items that will get you to pause and waste time getting emotional. The best way to handle these things is to decide before you start cleaning which things are worth keeping or throwing. Once your mind is ready, set a date. Make a list. Prioritize. Gather your tools.

Set A Date. Any day is good if the day is solely committed to cleaning. The reason you want to commit a day is to lessen the stress of rushing. Spring Cleaning is hard, sprinting through the process doesn’t help. You will only get frustrated and will not do a good job.

Make A-List. Are you cleaning the whole house in one day or two days? Cleaning the whole house in one day may not be enough time. Setting aside a couple of days may be a better way. But it’s your house, you decide. On the list, you should have the number of rooms in the house, and the things you like to get rid of in each room, like old shoes, books, old mails, old clothes, etc., etc.

Prioritize. With your list, you can prioritize the most important to the least important. Each room will take a different cleaning time. You decide which room you like to begin. For professional cleaners like me, I start in the master bedroom with the master bathroom or the kitchen if I am cleaning by myself. The reason is that it is the most utilized room in the house. More time is needed and more detail is necessary to make these rooms sparkle.

Gather Your Tools. You want to do a good job in the most efficient way, make sure you have the right tools for certain tasks. Have a cleaning tools checklist. Working with a broken vacuum is very frustrating. So, check and re-check. Also, if you like to use specific cleaning solutions for different tasks make sure you read the labels first if this is your first time using the products. And, have plenty of trash bags.

So, you made up your mind. You set a date. Made a list. Know your priorities. Get your tools. You are ready! How to Spring Clean? There are plenty of ways to do it. The most important thing is you start.
