Here in the South, Pollen Season starts as early as January, depending on the weather. Tree-like Oak and Birch tend to peak levels from late March into April and die down by late May. But those trees are not the only Pollen culprits; grass and other weed Pollen also contributes.

To clean the Pollen from the patio furniture, you must use the vacuum’s essential tool. The best vacuum is with a Hepa filter bag, a brush, and a vacuum attachment. These tools are good, especially for pillows and cushions. Some outdoor furniture is okay to submerge in water for cleaning thoroughly. Other parts of the chairs, like the cushion, may not be well immersed in the water.

To clean, gather all your supplies; a vacuum, a bucket of warm water with a few drops of dish soap, and clean cleaning towels. Start by removing all the cushions from the chairs. Use the vacuum attachment and the brush. Start vacuuming the top of the chairs, all the way to the bottom. Pay extra attention to the crevices. The Pollen accumulates in the holes and corners. Vacuum thoroughly. Once all the chairs and tables are vacuumed. Decide if the chairs and tables need to get washed in water. If the chairs and tables are no longer full of Pollen after vacuuming, there is no need to wash them in water. Use the water and dish soap solution to wipe clean the chairs and table to get rid of the Pollen thoroughly. Let air dry.

As for cleaning the cushion, if the cushion case is removable and can be machine washed, use the device to wash them. However, if the cushion case is not removable, you can use a cleaning cloth to damp clean the cushion. The same cleaning process with the chairs and tables, first vacuum the cushions one by one. Spend extra time using the vacuum to suck the Pollen from the cushion material. The Hepa filter bag will trap the Pollen.

After vacuuming, use the cleaning cloth and the water dish soap solution to wipe the cushion one cushion at a time, like the chairs and tables, and air dry. After this process, to check if you did an excellent job cleaning, use the professional house cleaning method of checking, look, touch and feel. Look for Pollen, touch the surface, and feel your fingers. If you do not see Pollen, you do not touch it, and you do not feel it on your finger, you did a great job.

As a reminder, before you start cleaning your outdoor furniture, read the manufacturer’s label. It has information on how to best care for the product.
